Pork Farms Group is a leading UK food company, specialising in the chilled savoury pastry market. They produce over 160 million products every year both under their own brand and for a range of key retail partners including Asda, M&S and Sainsbury’s.
There was a hole in the fryers heat exchanger, due to a fracture occurring during the hygiene process, The Food Grade (FG) thermal fluid started to leak into the fryer, the fryer was isolated and production cancelled on this line.
What Pork Farms wanted to achieve
Production resumed as quickly as possible using the appropriate Food Grade (FG)thermal fluid.
The Global Heat Transfer solution
Our Rapid Response Team were on site within 3 hours with replacement stock of Food Grade (FG) thermal fluid. The repair to the fryer was completed by the onsite engineering team and we prepared the heat transfer system before topping it up with 250 litres of Food Grade fluid. A hot thermal fluid sample was taken when the system was back in production and the Global Heat Transfer 11 point series of independent tests was carried out. A full report on the state of the fluid was supplied to the customer.
The 260°C system operating temperature was quickly resumed. Production was restored within 12 hours of the initial call and loss of downtime was minimal. An independent quality audit (undertaken by one of the UKs leading supermarkets) was successfully carried out on Pork Farms production plant later the same day.
